M. Gerwing Architects is a full-service, design-oriented architecture and design office in Boulder, Colorado.
Mark Alan Gerwing, AIA, LEED AP, Member City of Boulder Landmarks Board
Each year we take on a select number of projects, including single-family homes and additions, smaller retail and institutional projects and restaurant design. The focus is on creating a poetic sense of place, both in time and in space, while negotiating the demands of sites, budgets, schedules and aesthetics.
Every project is taken from initial cost and site analysis, through design and code compliance issues, and overseen during construction. We have extensive experience negotiating complex zoning and site use problems and generating successful projects with a wide range of construction budgets.
Mark Gerwing received a Master of Architecture from Yale University and a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Kentucky. Having grown up in Louisville, Kentucky, he has practiced primarily in Chicago and Colorado with a couple of years between schools in Boston. An avid fly fisherman, photographer and cook, Mark lives in Boulder with daughters Elli Grace and Emilia.

Hi Mark
I hit your blog while searching the term “poche space” to help my students in “introduction to interior design theory” here at RCC Academy of Design in Toronto. We offer a Bachelor of Interior Design; my students are all online so it’s easier to send them a link to something than try and draw it myself. Their textbook is Ching’s Form, Space and Order; surprisingly while he shows poche space on nearly every page of the book he never mentions the concept even once, as far as I can tell.
Thanks

Thanks Jake, same thing goes for the parti diagram. Lots of talk about it, but not a wealth of examples.
